Best signature in a General Lee? Catherine Bach's

Comedian Mike Epps, car collector! Has a T Bucket, 57 Bel Air, 70 Riviera, and Rolls and Land Rover

found among the many cool car collector videos on the Motorator / GQ Car Collector series https://www.facebook.com/motorator
and the entire series can be looked through to see what celeb car collectors they've interviewed at http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL0hKMB1-xkc_-Jxd4iKGMHnvCohTw4h6l

If you haven't heard of the Motorator, (Car Collector by GQ) check out the interviews of car collectors he does in their warehouses and garages, astonishing. Here's Jeff Dunham and Bill Goldberg

in which the incredible Jeff Dunham demonstrates how to open a McLaren, as it has no switch, door handle, or soft pad... very cool. He also explains the Mopar musclecar era fender tag screws. Seriously, I'd never learned this thing he shows, before this. How far out is it to be schooled on Mopar trivia during a celeb garage tour?

I've posted about Bill Goldberg's car collection before, http://justacarguy.blogspot.com/search?q=goldberg  but this is the first video I've seen of the cars in his garage. He brought the lawman to SEMA! http://justacarguy.blogspot.com/2010/12/lawman-boss-429-mustang-that-al.html

So, my compliments to GQ and the Motorator, they are doing a terrific series of videos on car collections in Southern California, and the Clive Cussler collection in Colorado http://justacarguy.blogspot.com/2013/07/tim-allens-car-collection-from-new-gq.html

Bethany Hamilton and teammate place 8th in Morocco's Gazelle Rally

found in Automobile Magazine, July issue... what an amazing news story to have in a car magazine! No one else has this story but Automobile Magazine is my guess!

Bethany will be on one of five US teams participating in the 2013 Rallye Aïcha des Gazelles. The well-known international competition, celebrating its 23rd year, will take place in France and Morocco from March 16th – March 31st. The off-road rally raid is unique in format – nine days of off-road driving competition using traditional dead reckoning navigation, outdated maps, no GPS or outside assistance while on course. It is considered one of the toughest all-female sporting events on the planet.
Bethany’s teammate, X-Games gold medalist navigator Chrissie Beavisis an architect by trade, but has top-notch skills in rally racing. She is also a driving instructor, rally racer and her capabilities as a mechanic and ace fabricator have led to appearances in popular TV shows such as “Monster Garage” as well as commentator roles for ESPN.

Any wonder I'm a fan and subscriber?

With its unique concept involving eco-driving without excess speed, based on traditional navigation without GPS and for women only, the Rallye Aïcha des Gazelles du Maroc was the precursor to a new vision for auto rallies.

In our constant quest for quality, the environment has always been one of our main areas of focus. In 2010, the Rallye Aïcha des Gazelles du Maroc became the first auto rally in the world to obtain international environmental certification (ISO 14001:2004).

Yup, I just checked Google news, and not a word about it.

However,... very cool news for women, Bethany is a spokeman for Proctor and Gamble's Tampax business, and is hosting a contest for young women:

Tampax and pro-surfer Bethany Hamilton are joining forces to shine a spotlight on awesomely active girls - those who have the confidence to get off the sideline and into the game. The Awesomely Active Girls Challenge is designed to celebrate and reward girls who share pictures of moments when they have been awesomely active. In addition to being featured on the Tampax Facebook page, girls have the opportunity to win a great prize, which includes a chance for their photo to appear in Tampax Pearl Active advertising.

For one month, from June 21 until July 21, girls can enter the Awesomely Active Girls Challenge by submitting a photo of them taking on their favorite activity with 140 character caption on Facebook.com/Tampax. Beginning July 29 and through October 6 the community can place votes for their favorite moment. Each week, a winner will be selected and highlighted as the "Awesomely Active Girl of the Week," not only receiving the spotlight but also $500

The Last American Hero, starring a young Jeff Bridges in a 1973 movie about running moonshine, driving a fastback Mustang GT, and getting into NASCAR... great opening scene, and dirt road car chase

part one above, go to youtube for the part 2, but be sure to check out the paint on the race cars at minute 55

Besides Jeff Bridges, the other actors you might enjoy seeing are Ned Beatty and Gary Busey before he was full looney tunes... you'll recognize at least 4 other actors, Ed Lauter, William Smith,

This movie is the bio of Junior Johnson, and he is the Tech Advisor and consultant of course

The movie depicts Junior's father as being arrested for producing moonshine. In reality, it was Junior himself that was arrested and sentenced. In 1956, federal tax agents found Johnson working at his father's moonshine still in Wilkes County; they arrested him. Many local residents believed the raid was done in revenge for the agent's inability to catch Johnson delivering moonshine on local highways; this is depicted in the movie when we see the local law enforcement busting up his father's still. Junior Johnson was convicted of moon-shining and was sent to prison in Chillicothe, Ohio. He served 11 months of a two-year sentence.

anyone recognize the rim? the movie is 1972-73 production, and this is probably a local racer, but I can't remember ever seeing a rim like this

Did I ever post about the Marx brothers racing a 1928 Mercedes S 28 /180 boat tail speedster on Muroc in 1932?

Zeppo and Chico made a bet with a Hollywood producer that their car was faster than his Duesenburg.. and they went to Muroc with a huge crowd to see which was.. the Mercedes lost that one, Eddie Miller Jr, driving the Duesenberg, won.

Hollywood was represented by all of The Marx Brothers, Clark Gable, Gary Cooper, Al Jolson, Carole Lombard, Mae West, Ben Lyon, Leila Hyams. The automotive side was represented by Eddie Miller, Harry Miller, and oil tycoon Earl Gilmore.

Both cars were stripped for racing with the Duesenberg being prepared for racing by Eddie Miller with the enthusiastic approval of E.L. Cord.

Harry Miller flagged them off

The race started at 6:30 a.m. on a September 1932. The Mercedes sprinted ahead supercharger wailing, but the Duesenberg caught the lighter Mercedes on the first lap, and it was all over. Eddie Miller said that he shifted the Duesenberg into top at 5,200 rpm. The engine blew three quarts of oil out during the 109 mph run.

the car was at the 2010 and 2011 possibly, Pebble Beach Concours
